What hardware does a wholesale delivery route need?

October 7, 2026

Route-based wholesale needs devices that work in a van, on a doorstep and back at base. Here is the setup to plan around.

What hardware does a wholesale delivery route need?

A wholesale delivery route has two worlds: the field, where drivers load, deliver and take payment, and the base, where orders are prepared and stock is managed. Hardware needs to cover both.

In the van

Drivers need a rugged handheld that works on mobile data. The Lark 1 has 4G LTE, NFC and a built-in barcode scanner as standard, which means picklists and deliveries can be checked by scanning rather than by hand. A protective case, hand strap and trigger handle make it easier to use on the move.

On the doorstep

If customers need printed delivery notes or receipts, plan for a way to print in the field. Check the options with the team, as the right choice depends on your workflow.

At base

Packing and dispatch usually need a desktop barcode scanner and a receipt or label printer. A presentation scanner such as the HPRT P200 or a desktop scanner such as the Tera 9700 speeds up picking and checking. A tablet at the dispatch desk can also help where staff move around.

Charging and spares

Multi-slot chargers keep several handhelds ready for the next route. Plan a spare device for peak days.

Bring it together

The right hardware only helps if orders, stock and routes live in one platform. See the devices on our hardware page and read how Trackory supports route-based businesses on our wholesale and routes page. Talk to the team and we will help plan the setup.
